Trisha Krishnan’s Brinda Web-Series Review: Murder, Madness And Mystery With Shocking And Unfiltered Storytelling

Brinda Web-Series Review

Bollywood has big movies like Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Singham 3 compete with the South Indian film industry. But ever since people watched Vijay Sethupathi’s film Maharaja, no Bollywood film seems to come close in terms of content. And now, there’s more bad news for Bollywood — South Indian cinema is about to dominate OTT platforms too. Content is coming that might even challenge Maharaja. One such show is Brinda. Not many have heard of it, but I promise that once someone watches it, they’ll end up telling at least 20 other people about it.

Overview

Brinda show is streaming on Sony Liv. It has a total of 8 episodes, each about 40 minutes long, so you’ll reach the end in about 5 hours. The best part is that the story ends in Season 1 itself — no need to wait for another season. Hindi dubbing is also available.

But first, a serious warning for anyone with a weak heart — Brinda is a disturbing show. There are some gross scenes, and the theme is controversial because it involves religion. Brinda web-series is the kind of content that could spark protests. If these things make you uncomfortable or trigger you, it’s best to stay far away from it. The creators haven’t held back at all.

The story begins with a murder case. A sack full of bricks is found under a dirty drain. Inside is a man’s dead body. But the strange part is that the cause of death isn’t drowning. He was stabbed 16 times near the heart before being thrown in the water. Then comes a shocking twist — the suspect the police are looking at is a bird. A bird that used to migrate from Indonesia to India. Used to — because this bird is now extinct. No one has seen it in ages.

This marks the beginning of a chain reaction, like the ones you read about in chemistry. As the police discover the body, a series of murders begins across the city. The common link? All the victims are bald — not naturally, but their heads were shaved just before they died. One dead body leads to a mystery involving at least 100 more deaths. And don’t forget about the bird — that mystery will leave you stunned.

Brinda web-series feels like a return to the golden age of shows like Asur and Sacred Games, where each episode ended on such a strong cliffhanger that you couldn’t sleep without watching the next one. It has the kind of suspense that messes with your mind. The way the bird is tied into the story is brilliantly done. The show also has a Tumbbad-like fantasy angle, connected to gods — but not in the way you’d expect. The portrayal of God is very different.

The entire focus is actually on the murder investigation, presented in such a serious and realistic way that it feels like you’re sitting inside the police station. By the fifth episode, there’s a twist so shocking that no one could possibly see it coming. The villains are written in such a powerful way, with their dark pasts shown and connected to the present, that you’ll forget the hero and start to like the villains instead. So many things happen in the story, and it moves so quickly, that before you know it, you’ll be at the eighth and final episode.

There’s no forced romance or unnecessary focus on the police officers’ personal lives — all the usual mistakes are avoided. Actress Trisha is already quite popular in the North, and after this Brinda show, she truly fits the phrase “beauty with brains.”

Brinda web-series is a spiritual murder mystery with no time-wasting, just pure storytelling. That twist in episode five is completely unpredictable. The acting is excellent. Even though it’s a South Indian show, you’ll feel emotionally connected.

On the downside, even though Brinda show has mystery, suspense, and thrill, they missed the chance to add a bit of horror, which could’ve made it even better. Also, the Hindi dubbing for Trisha’s character could’ve been stronger — her voice lacks intensity.

Still, I strongly recommend this Brinda show. Make sure to watch it — Brinda web-series is one of the best pieces of content from 2024. You’ll feel the same respect for it as you did for Maharaja movie. Same level — promise.
