Overview
You know about hijacking, right? We’ve seen it in many movies. But this time, it’s on another level. This is about a real-life incident where people were stuck inside a plane for seven days. Surprised? Wondering how that’s possible? This is a true story—considered the deadliest and scariest hijack in Indian history: IC 814, the Kandahar Hijack. Most people probably didn’t even realize when the show was released, and that’s mainly because of the controversy surrounding it.
Since it’s based on a real case, the makers had to balance politics and history. The director is Anubhav Sinha, who always draws attention. But if the show is good, people are ready to forgive anything. That’s how I felt when I started watching the first episode.
The story itself isn’t something entirely new. A group of five or six people use fake documents to board a plane on a secret mission. There are around 150 passengers on the flight, completely unaware of what’s about to happen in the sky. Then comes the expected twist—the hijack. Control of the plane slips from the pilot’s hands and goes to these armed, strange men.
What makes this case different is that the passengers were trapped inside the plane for seven days. It’s not like the plane stayed in the air that long—it kept landing in different countries to refuel and take off again. It’s shocking how that even happened.
Usually, hijackers make demands in exchange for hostages. But in this IC 814 show, the government refused to negotiate. What’s even more shocking is that the show doesn’t just recreate events—it includes real news footage from the time. This hijack happened in front of media cameras.
The cast of IC 814 show is something else. When you see it, your mind will be blown. So many big names in one series. That’s one of the best parts—even though some actors are huge stars, they’re not necessarily the main characters. The story decides how much screen time each actor gets.
The real lead of the show is the story of IC 814. It doesn’t matter how long someone has been in the industry—everyone plays according to the script. You know Rajeev from The Kapil Sharma Show? He’s the main villain here. Can you even imagine that? It’s totally unexpected.
At first glance, IC 814 show looks like any other Bollywood-style hijack story. But the moment the plane lands, the story shifts into something much deeper. If you haven’t read about the real case, the ending of the series will feel like a strong mystery. Who survives, who doesn’t—no one knows. It’s a serious show. No jokes, no songs, no romance. Just a plane, some guns, and 150 passengers caught in the middle.
The suspense of IC 814 web-series is solid and doesn’t get revealed until the final episode. The acting feels natural and believable. Vijay Varma plays the pilot, and he does a great job. But one thing that might disappoint you is how the hijackers are shown. For something labeled as the biggest hijack in Indian history, the villains don’t feel threatening. Just holding a gun doesn’t make someone scary. Like Jim Sarbh in Neerja movie—his character gave you chills. Here in IC 814 show, the hijackers seem weak. Some even shake hands with passengers. They’ve been shown as helpless more than dangerous.
Another issue is the government angle. Whenever the story shifts away from the plane to the government’s side, the interest drops. Those scenes feel slow and less engaging.
The concept is real and disturbing. The cast is strong, the acting is solid, and the ending keeps you hooked. But IC 814 show isn’t as intense in presentation as you’d expect from such a heavy topic. Also, the villains are completely forgettable, even though their names were hyped. Definitely worth watching for serious cinema lovers. But if you’re just looking for entertainment, it’s better to skip this one.
