Do you know why Lord Shiva is called “Bhola” (innocent)? Because he is so simple-hearted that he doesn’t discriminate between his devotees. Whether it’s a human, a god, or a demon—he grants everyone their wishes. And then, when things go wrong, the other gods have to come down to earth to fix the situation. You may have read or heard all this before. But now, to show and explain it in today’s world, a well-made film has been created. Its name is Bhool Chuk Maaf. I often say that Maddock Films doesn’t just make movies—they invent them. They find subjects that no one has even thought about before.

Overview
In the streets of Banaras, a boy proposes marriage to his future bride. Both the boy and girl agree, but the girl’s father becomes the problem. The issue is small: the girl is ready, but what about the boy’s job—especially a government job? So a condition is set. The wedding procession can come to the house, but the groom cannot enter with just a wedding card—he has to show proof of a government job at the gate.
Everything would have gone smoothly, and the couple would have been united, but then comes a twist involving Lord Shiva. The boy, unknowingly, goes to Shiva’s temple to make a wish. Shiva, being innocent, grants the wish. But something happens that makes the boy come back to the temple—to return the wish.
Let’s understand the idea of a time loop. Imagine having to live the same day 30 times in a month. Not 30 different days—but the same single day repeating again and again. Then the question becomes—do you have the power to change your fate, or is fate trying to change you? Maybe that’s why you are being made to relive the same day.
Mind-blowing, right? That’s the film’s unique factor—it’s a time loop story. It’s not too complex—just a game between the 29th and 30th of the month. On the 29th, there’s the haldi ceremony, and on the 30th, the wedding. But between that is chaos. The groom wakes up, applies haldi, dreams of bringing his bride home, goes to sleep, and wakes up again—only to find it’s the 29th again. The 30th never comes. What happens next in Bhool Chuk Maaf movie—no one can guess. And that’s Maddock’s strength—they make films where predicting the next scene is hard.
Bhool Chuk Maaf gives the audience something fresh to watch. Bhool Chuk Maaf movie is simple and made for all types of viewers. Plus, the references to Lord Shiva and the Bhagavad Gita make a basic story worth watching for two hours.
This Bhool Chuk Maaf movie could have been perfect—if only the dialogues were a bit funnier, the songs better written, and if the film had reached the climax a little quicker. The idea is really interesting, but the storytelling is a bit dull. It’s like Bunty’s soap—slow and dragging. The same team earlier made Zara Hatke Zara Bachke—a solid comedy, emotional family drama with a powerful ending message. Bhool Chook Maaf is made in the same category.
Bhool Chuk Maaf is a film you can watch with your entire family. Everyone will understand the story, and by the end, it will leave an impact. The only major difference between the two films is the actors and their performances.
Rajkummar Rao is known for his roles in middle-class family dramas. But how long can the same type of role feel fresh? Will fans be satisfied with him doing only one kind of film? On the other side, there’s Wamiqa, who acts so intensely that even the so-called “nepotism kids” might get scared. But overacting in one film as if it’s ten can be harmful for the audience. When these two talk to each other in the film, those scenes feel like pure time-pass. The story only moves forward when they are not together. Their scenes feel like speed-breakers in Bhool Chuk Maaf movie.
Still, I wouldn’t call this Bhool Chuk Maaf film terrible, useless, or boring—because it does try something different. The more you think about it, the more you realize how much better it could have been. If Bhool Chuk Maaf film had songs like those in Vicky Kaushal and Sara’s movies, or if the comedy in the dialogues had been stronger, Bhool Chook Maaf could have been a hit.
The concept is well thought out. The climax makes you think. And yes, it’s the kind of cinema that entertains the whole family—parents included. On the downside, the filmmaking is average, the songs don’t meet Maddock’s usual standards, the comedy isn’t that enjoyable, and the lead pair’s scenes are not interesting. Bhool Chuk Maaf is a simple, one-time watch. If you want to watch something with your family, go ahead. Those calling it a masterpiece are exaggerating, and those calling it trash are also wrong. Watch Bhool Chuk Maaf movie yourself and decide for yourself.
