Overview

Guns And Gulaabs is their new show on Netflix. This Guns And Gulaabs series has a total of seven episodes, and it’ll take around six hours to finish. The story begins with a strange man who has an even stranger blessing — he’s been forgiven for death seven times. People have tried to kill him with swords, even shot him, but somehow he always survives — and laughs about it. He eventually turns this gift into a deadly hobby, becoming a contract killer.

His next mission takes him to a dangerous place called Gulabganj, where people illegally grow opium. Opium is a powerful drug — just growing one plant without permission can land you in jail. In this story, everyone seems to be obsessed with opium. But opium falls in love — metaphorically — with a new man in town, who could be described as the god of death (Yamraj). He carries a government-authorized gun in his pocket.

So now we have: opium, its new admirer, dangerous gangsters, and the death-proof killer. But there’s another character too — the Joker. Like the wildcard in a deck of cards, this Joker can become anything, switch sides anytime. And this is when the real game begins: opium in the middle, Yamraj on one side, death-proof Atmaram on the other, and a wildcard Joker in play. The rules are simple: the winner gets opium, and the loser gets death. Let the games begin.

Guns And Gulaabs is a very different kind of show. It has violence, blood, fights, and even a love triangle. But after watching the whole thing, you might wonder — did I just watch a crime thriller or a full-blown comedy? That’s the magic of creativity. Even murder scenes are turned into hilarious moments with smart direction. Laughing during a death scene is an unusual experience in Indian cinema.

You might think of Mirzapur web-series, but don’t be fooled — that show is completely serious. This one breaks every rule of seriousness, turning tragedies into absurd comedy. Dark humor is used brilliantly in every tragic moment. It might make your heart ache while also making you laugh.

In Indian cinema, directors often focus on big actors to ensure success. But with Raj and DK, the real hero is the writing. The characters say dialogues you’ve never heard before. Since this Guns And Gulaabs show is set in the 1990s, the jokes and humor also have that old-school Indian vibe. Bollywood rarely experiments like this.

Guns And Gulaabs show is a mix of situational comedy and tragedy. The storytelling is subtle — they won’t explain everything to you, but they’ll present it in a way that hits you hard. Take Gulshan Devaiah’s character for example — he barely speaks five or six lines, but his presence leaves a lifelong impact. You’ll remember him by character name, not real name.

To be honest, the story is a bit average. Especially after spending six hours on a show, you expect something unforgettable. What Guns And Gulaabs gives you is pure entertainment. Each scene is enjoyable, but when you put them together, the story may not feel very strong. However, turning an average story into a hit — that’s where acting comes in.

The performances are top-notch. You’ve got powerhouse actors like Dulquer Salmaan, Rajkummar Rao, Gulshan Devaiah, and Adarsh Gourav. These four alone can outshine hundreds of others in the industry.

The dark humor concept is unique, interesting, and totally worth your time. Even after six hours of violence and murder, Guns And Gulaabs show leaves you smiling. The acting is so natural, it takes the audience straight back to the ’90s. That’s not easy to pull off.

On the downside: the story is weak. You expect suspense, twists, and thrill — but don’t get much of that. And dragging the story over six hours wasn’t fair. A faster-paced screenplay could have saved three hours.

If you’re in the mood for something truly different, explore Raj and DK’s world. But if you want a serious, hero-vs-villain kind of show, this Guns And Gulaabs show is not for you. Just wave goodbye and move on.
