It might be hard to believe, but almost seven years have passed since Ajay Devgn’s film Raid was released. When the sequel, Raid 2, was announced today, it felt like we had just watched the original movie yesterday. No one even realized when they formed such a strong connection with the first Raid movie. That’s the power of Ajay Devgn. He makes such easy, simple, yet engaging cinema that even if Raid 3 releases in 2035, it will still feel like we just watched the last one.

Overview

The teaser for Raid 2 is short, but it carries a big impact. It includes exactly what Bollywood needs—nothing over-the-top, no excessive heroism, no massive budget, no famous director, and no superstar known for earning ₹1000-2000 crore at the box office.

The film is a hit because it fits perfectly with the audience’s expectations. It offers a gripping story where we’ll think about who the hero and villain are later. First, the freshness, power, and excitement of the story itself are enough to capture attention.

Raid 2 is almost based on real-life events. It revolves around corruption, and instead of creating unnecessary controversies, it wins over the audience with a strong and engaging story.

The teaser is brilliantly edited. It introduces the film, announces the release date, and surprises everyone with just one word—Mahabharat.

That’s the power of great writing. And when an actor like Ajay Devgn connects with it, the entire world takes notice of how powerful a film’s script can be. I don’t think any Hindi film in recent years has had such a well-received announcement video—one that 100 out of 100 people would like, with no room for criticism.

Ajay Devgn is back in his strong zone—stories about the common man, where he fights against injustice and plays mind games with suspense. Just look at Shaitaan movie—such a simple story, shot mostly in a single room, yet what was said and shown completely blew people’s minds.

But this time, to take Raid 2 to the next level, casting the most underrated villain actor, Riteish Deshmukh, is a very smart move. So far, the teaser has focused on hyping Ajay Devgn’s character and making him look strong. But in the film, Riteish’s character will give him tough competition. No fancy look, no exaggerated introduction—just presenting him as a politician, and the rest was done by Riteish’s eyes. This is what real cinema looks like.

The makers have deliberately avoided revealing too much in the teaser, but one thing is clear—this time, the battle will be of the mind. Even physical action sequences will seem weak in front of it.

Did you notice how cleverly the teaser connects Raid 2 with Raid 1 by featuring old characters? There was no need for flashbacks—just one scene with Saurabh Shukla was enough to refresh memories. It takes real intelligence to make a sequel that is not directly connected to part one, yet still feels like a natural continuation. They took the characters and created a new story.

In today’s time, when most filmmakers are just making mass-market films for quick profits, Ajay Devgn is focusing on quality cinema. He is relying only on content to attract the audience.

But the surprising part is that when you check the comments under the teaser, people are talking about someone else even more than Ajay Devgn, Riteish Deshmukh, or even the film itself—Yo Yo Honey Singh. Many people have been missing his music, and now he’s returning with Raid 2 to shake up Bollywood again. A special song has already been shot.

The makers of Raid 2 might not even realize it yet, but by associating Honey Singh with the film, they have found their biggest promotional weapon.

Honestly, Raid 2 could turn out to be a dark horse. Even if it doesn’t start with a bang at the box office, it will go the distance because family audiences will support it.

What do you think—did the teaser excite you, or are you waiting for the trailer?
