Overview
There are no big sets here. The entire show takes place in a small room, and just two actors are enough to blow your mind. One warning though: if you’re faint-hearted, stay away. Bhog has been released directly on OTT, and you can watch it for free. I’ll tell you how in a bit, but first, here’s a quick intro to the Bhog show.
Bhog series based on a short story of the same name, which also inspired a popular radio show episode that scared a lot of Bengali listeners. It’s a very short web series with just six episodes, each around 20 minutes long. That means you can finish the whole thing in about two hours. From the poster itself, you can tell it’s a horror thriller, full of suspense and hidden fear in every scene.
What makes this Bhog show different from regular horror is the spiritual angle in its story. The kind of rituals that are usually meant to drive away ghosts are actually what attract them here. What if religious rituals themselves made someone the next victim of a spirit?
The story is about an orphan boy who still can’t let go of his dead mother’s memory. One day, in his friend’s shop, he sees a statue of a goddess. At first, it looks ordinary, but if you look closely, you’ll see something strange—one hand holds a veena, but the other holds a human head.
It sounds odd to say, but this idol is blamed for scaring a shop worker so badly that he disappeared—not just from the shop, but from the entire city. People say the statue scared him like Annabelle. Now ask yourself—who would bring such an idol into their home temple? Only someone who’s desperately looking for a way to meet their dead mother again.
Then something strange happens. The day the idol enters the boy’s house, his dead mother appears in his dream that very night. She tells him one thing—her stomach is still empty, even after death, and he has to feed her, no matter what. Her hunger must be satisfied.
That’s when a second character enters the story. A missing girl, lost in a new city, ends up crashing into the boy’s car. What I’m going to tell you next is hard to believe. The same idol that others are afraid of starts showing the boy visions of his mother. But things go too far when, one night, the idol, pleased by the boy’s devotion, accepts food from his hands. And guess who cooked that food? You’ve probably figured it out—it’s the one who’s about to rewrite both the story and the boy’s fate.
How did such a simple idea turn into something so powerful? Because the Bhog show taps into the fears we’ve had since childhood—black magic, ghosts, spirits, life after death. Everyone has thought about these things at least once. And this show brings us face-to-face with those fears in every episode.
There are only five or six scenes that you’d call truly scary, but for the rest of the time, it’s the story itself that haunts you. It keeps you thinking about what’s going to happen next. Credit goes to the Bengali industry for creating something so unique and relatable without a big budget or star cast—just a smart idea. And Anirban Bhattacharya’s intense performance turns the whole thing into a haunting experience. Especially in the climax of Episode 4—he does a dance that you should definitely not watch at night.
By the way, you can watch this Bhog show on the Hoichoi OTT platform. But if you want to watch Bhog show for free, all you need is an Airtel SIM—or just use a friend’s Airtel number to log in. Then you can watch it at no cost. It’s only two hours long. In return, you’ll get to see something very different. Whether you find it good or bad, that’s your call—but there are some scenes that will definitely scare you. So please, take care.
