Overview
It feels like Netflix has used one of its most underrated weapons to take revenge for all the bad Indian shows. Wednesday is a show that not many people know about compared to other famous series in India, and that’s its special quality. The smaller the audience, the better the content.
Anyone who has watched Wednesday Season 1 will not be able to stop themselves from watching Wednesday Season 2. To put it in simple words, this is a very different type of series where a group of strange people with superpowers are brought together into a suspense-thriller world.
Right now, Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 is out. It has a total of 4 episodes, each almost 1 hour long, and all of them are amazing. But there’s a small condition — before watching Season 2, you must watch Season 1 to understand the story, because all the characters are directly connected to it.
This time, the story revolves around strange murder cases — not committed by any human or big animal, but by a gang of crows, and they have done it very brutally. The leader is a one-eyed crow, who is Wednesday’s sworn enemy. Think of these murders like steps of a ladder — the final step is reaching Wednesday’s neck.
Wednesday is not afraid of dying — in fact, it’s her biggest dream. But if her friend dies and the blame falls on her, and if she sees all this happening in advance like a vision of the future, Wednesday will do everything she can to change that future — a future where her friend does not survive.
But the twist is, the one who usually watches others — Wednesday — is now being watched by someone else. On top of that, in every episode she is challenged: “Catch me if you can.”
If Wednesday Season 1’s story was mostly mysterious and about solving murder cases, then Wednesday Season 2 has become more personal because the danger is now targeting Wednesday’s closest friend. And that’s not all — the danger is doubled because it’s a new year at college, bringing in new admissions. No one knows who will be a friend and who will be an enemy.
For someone watching this Wednesday Season 2 show for the first time, they will enjoy the way suspense is created because you’ve probably never seen supernatural mystery like this before. No twist or angle is predictable. Every episode forces you to think hard and follow the story step-by-step, which keeps the fear and excitement alive.
The way Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 ends will drive you crazy for the next part. Even though there are only 4 episodes, it feels like a complete season. In fact, it feels like instead of Part 2, the next thing should be Season 3.
The detailing is amazing. Just like people go crazy for Harry Potter, this show is made in a style that feels very real. Don’t watch it expecting ghosts or horror — while there are some dark and shadowy scenes, it is more mysterious than haunting, mixed with humor.
I don’t understand much about technical filmmaking, but the way the story is connected to its characters makes it feel like you are watching real people on screen. I’ve never seen this before — even showing no expression at all is done as great acting. Jenna Ortega feels like she was born to play Wednesday’s lead character. In Wednesday Season 2, she’s taken her acting to the next level.
And the Hindi dubbing is incredible — it feels like the real voices, with all expressions and emotions completely genuine. It never feels awkward. Top quality.
Although half the Wednesday Season 2 show is still left, the only thing I miss is the kind of violence and bloodshed from the previous season. Maybe that will come in the next part.
Don’t think that because this is only Wednesday Season 2 Part 1 you should wait for Part 2. These 4 episodes will give you as much entertainment as 8 episodes. And if you start watching from Season 1, the fun will double.
