Today I went to watch a Hollywood horror-thriller movie called Weapons. The story is about a small town named Maybrook, where one night, 17 children suddenly disappear from the same classroom.

Overview
At exactly 2 a.m., these children leave their homes and suddenly vanish without a trace. I’m sure that in the first half of Weapons movie, you might feel the movie is a bit strange, maybe even boring, because there isn’t much of a horror feel in the beginning. But in reality, the first half of Weapons movie is creating the mystery, showing the events from the perspective of each character.
The director, Zach Cregger, has presented the story in non-linear chapters, with each character’s point of view adding a different angle to the story.
Weapons movie is definitely scary, with jump scares that can make your heart pound. In the second half of Weapons, the atmosphere becomes so tense that you will find yourself sitting at the edge of your seat the entire time. The cinematography is top-notch, and every frame carries a creepy vibe.
If you’ve seen Barbarian, you’ll be interested to know that this Weapons movie is by the same director. I especially enjoyed the structural presentation of the Weapons film—it’s like you’re solving a puzzle, with each chapter offering a new clue. And when the final act arrives… oh my God, it is absolutely mind-blowing. In the theatre, people were literally shouting things like, “What did we just see?”
But the movie is not without its flaws. It may remind you of Shaitaan movie, but here, the person responsible for everything has no motive explained. We never find out why this person is doing it. Since the story is told chapter by chapter from each character’s point of view, they could have easily included a chapter showing the villain’s perspective.
That would have given the audience a clear explanation of his motives. Also, if you’re not a fan of slow-burn horror, the first 40 minutes might feel a bit heavy and slow. But trust me, once the climax hits, everything feels worth it.
The acting is excellent from everyone, including all the children. The film even features familiar faces like Thanos and Wong. It’s not just a horror-thriller—it also has moments of dark humor that will make you laugh in a few places. But one of the biggest highlights is its R-rated brutal action. There’s one scene in particular that completely caught me off guard and left me shocked.
Overall, Weapons is a must-watch if you enjoy horror, thriller, mystery, or even brutal films. You just need to be patient with the first half. While it could have been a little more polished, it will definitely make you think and will also scare you. There is a very horror scenes in second half of the Weapons movie so I will suggest you to not go with the children to watch this one.
There’s no nudity in the film, though there is one bed scene presented without nudity. The second half contains a lot of brutality, so it’s best to keep children away. If you’ve seen it, you might have your own strong reaction, and if you haven’t, be prepared for an intense experience.
