Overview

To put it simply, Akshay Kumar means “content.” The films he makes often have more substance than the ones people actually go to watch. In fact, other actors’ careers thrive because of the movies he creates. And just wait for Hera Pheri 3 movie—it will change the game for Akshay once again.

But before that, he is taking one last shot with a content-driven film. A cinema experience that requires both courage to make and to watch.

The teaser of Kesari Chapter 2 is a 90-second video where, for the first 30 seconds, there is nothing visible on the screen—only a voice speaking. But the words alone are powerful enough to paint the whole picture.

Kesari Chapter 2 film is based on a real story about the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy, but it won’t tell the usual story that anyone can Google. Instead, Kesari Chapter 2 will bring to light a hidden part of history that has been kept from us. The subject is brutal and controversial—that’s why the teaser includes a black screen.

If you’ve seen the movie Sardar Udham, you know how powerful a film on this topic can be. Sardar Udham movie was disturbing, but this one will be challenging.

Not many people might know this, but Karan Johar, the producer of the film, once said in a live interview that Kesari Chapter 2 is probably the most important film of his entire Dharma Productions career, and he feels proud to be making it.

Akshay Kumar seems very confident in the teaser. It looks like he’s back in his “content Kumar” mode, as the film is based on a very strong subject. Don’t take this lightly.

If movies like Chhaavaa can make history and The Diplomat can bring back Bollywood’s lost glory, then Kesari Chapter 2 could be another surprise hit—not just in terms of content but also at the box office. Because where the family audience goes, money follows.

So what could be the problem? The casting. It’s a bit risky. Akshay Kumar in the lead role is the best possible choice—imagining a Kesari film without him would be unthinkable. For the supporting cast, or possibly as the villain, R. Madhavan has been chosen. He’s an underrated gem who can completely shock audiences with his performance. After Shaitaan, seeing him in another evil role will be thrilling. But even if his character is patriotic instead, he will still nail it—no doubt about that.

The real question mark is the third name in the cast—Ananya Panday. In such an important film, she will face serious struggles. Either this movie will cement her place in Bollywood, or it will completely expose her weaknesses. It’s a “make it or break it” moment for her.

The teaser didn’t reveal much—just the subject, a warning that got everyone’s attention, and the return of Akshay Kumar’s lost confidence.

But the biggest complaint will be about the film’s title: Kesari Chapter 2. Why? For what reason? How is this connected to Kesari? These are the questions that will arise. Is Bollywood really so naive that they think adding “2” to a film’s name will automatically make audiences spend money on it? If the filmmakers’ only goal is to make money, then Kesari Chapter 2 is a bad choice—people will compare it to the 2019 film and expose any weaknesses.

However, this could also be a smart move. If they emotionally connect Kesari and Kesari Chapter 2, repeating the same message in a stronger way, it could work. But for that to happen, this new film must be just as good as the original. Only then will people overlook the “Part 1, Part 2” gimmick and support the movie wholeheartedly.

Speaking of support, there could be a challenge ahead. A few days ago, SonyLIV released a show called The Waking of a Nation, and nobody really paid attention to it. The surprising part? That show also focuses on the hidden story of Jallianwala Bagh, presented in court by a lawyer.

Now, what if the story that Akshay Kumar is bringing to the screen has already been seen on OTT? If that happens, the film’s release timing will be all wrong. What’s the point of great acting, solid content, and a powerful message if the story turns out to be copied? All the effort will go to waste.

For now, once the trailer drops, everything will become clear. But one thing is certain—Akshay Kumar’s comeback in 2025 is guaranteed. With Jolly LLB 3, Sikandar, Jaat , and Kesari Chapter 2, Bollywood’s good days might finally be returning.

Now, the choice is yours—which films will you save your money for, and which ones will you spend on? Think carefully.
