Kesari 2 Movie Review: The Boldest Bollywood Comeback of 2025

Kesari 2 Movie Review

Akshay Kumar is known for making movies that people enjoy watching with their families. So then why was a movie made that received an adult certificate even before its release? I am talking about Kesari 2 movie. And the same thing happened with OMG 2, and no one who watched that film has found any mistake in it. It was based on a bold and adult topic, but it was made in such a fun and simple way that Akshay didn’t get the credit he deserved. Now it’s time to fix that—go to the theatre and give him a round of applause.

Overview

This is about Kesari 2 movie, which earlier received criticism that the filmmakers were being greedy, because honestly, Kesari part one and part two had no real connection. If all they did was add a “2” to the name just to make money, and you were thinking the same like me, then go to the theatre. Your eyes won’t just open—they’ll stay wide open in shock.

I think this Kesari 2 movie is the most perfect film I’ve seen from Bollywood this year. The story, the actors, their acting, and the ending—everything is beyond imagination. Kesari 2 movie is the most expensive Indian film ever made in the courtroom drama category. And believe me, to understand this movie, you need to be rich not just with money but also with your mind.

You might be thinking it’s a simple story with a hero and a villain, one wins and the other loses, and it all ends in court. What’s new in that? What’s new is the return of the old Akshay Kumar, the one known for solid content. His entry scene alone will blow your mind. He’s called “Shera” in the film’s music, and his performance really is as fierce as a lion. If people don’t support this comeback, it will be their own loss.

But Kesari 2 movie isn’t special only because of Akshay Kumar’s return. The way his role has been used has turned Kesari 2 movie into India’s biggest film of 2025. The film is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, who is actually a lawyer in real life. That’s why there’s not a single unnecessary scene in the movie. You’ll feel like you’re actually sitting inside a real courtroom the entire time. Possibly no one has ever had such a brilliant debut in the film industry. With just his first film, he has made something that won’t just work in India—it will also reach international audiences. And don’t be too surprised if Kesari 2 gets banned in some countries.

You must have heard of Jallianwala Bagh and maybe read about it in your childhood. Now it’s time to see it. But this is not the kind of story you’re expecting. Kesari 2 movie is not a motivational, patriotic, or propaganda film. It is a brutal and disturbing film. In the first scene itself, you may feel like buying the ticket was a mistake. From beneath 1,650 dead bodies, the hand of a small child comes out. His face is covered in blood, his eyes show the pain of losing his mother, and he’s holding his little sister’s dead body.

At that very moment, something happens in British India that had never happened before. A man from India gets the title of “Sir” and is given a high position in the British government. He’s a lawyer who has never lost a single case and has always defeated others for the British. Then why is he now fighting a case against the same government?

That small child who couldn’t be defeated by death grows up and meets the lawyer. Something is revealed that makes the lawyer back down from the case even before it starts.

There’s another character in the story who claims that Sir C. Sankaran Nair’s winning record remained untouched only because they never faced each other in court. That face-off is about to happen, and believe me, the ending of Kesari 2 movie is nothing like what you might be expecting. To find out who wins and who loses, you’ll have to go to the theatre.

The most shocking thing in the story is the unexpected twists and turns. Kesari 2 movie is not just a courtroom drama—it’s also an intelligent suspense thriller. Just don’t make the mistake of comparing Kesari 2 movie with the movie Sardar Udham movie. The topics might be similar, but the films are very different. And both are masterpieces in their own way.

Some people will say that Kesari 2 movie is not entertaining, that it feels like a boring documentary. But that’s not the filmmaker’s fault—it’s the viewer’s mistake. Because Kesari 2 movie offers a lot of entertainment, but only if the audience puts in a little brainwork. It has music, strong dialogues, an engaging story, and suspense. Whatever you want, it has it.

In court, two incredible lawyers, based on real-life characters, face off and say things so clever that you’ll be left wondering how the other person will respond. On top of that, just before their big confrontation, there’s an item song surprise. That’s what you call presentation. Two amazing actors with powerful screen presence.

This is Akshay Kumar’s film, and in the last thirty minutes, he will win your respect completely. But R. Madhavan will match him in every scene. He speaks less, but every word he says feels intense. His strong writing gives the film’s climax an even more powerful effect.

Ananya Panday’s character is very well written—you won’t be able to hate her. But if a better actor had played the role, the impact could have been bigger. She may not get much credit for this film. But personally, I think the biggest hero of the film is the director, who showed all of Bollywood that when you truly want to make a good film with a good story, the audience has no choice but to come to the theatre.

The story and the way it’s presented, the acting by Akshay and Madhavan, their powerful writing and dialogues, and the background music in between—it’s all amazing. And the ending is not what you expect. Just like in the movie Jaat where the entire story was based on “Sorry,” here too, the film ends with the word “Sorry,” leaving it incomplete.

On the negative side, Ananya Panday’s casting is not the worst, but not the best either. Also, the scenes of Jallianwala Bagh were shown too briefly and were kind of ignored in the second half.

Akshay Kumar is back, and along with him, the old-style meaningful Bollywood is back too. And the audience must return as well. Otherwise, missing such a good film will be a lifetime regret. Pick up your phone and book your ticket, my friend.
