On 14th August, while War 2 vs Coolie was in the spotlight, a film quietly released on Zee5 – Tehran, starring John Abraham, Neeru Bajwa, and Manushi Chhillar. I watched Tehran, so let’s quickly talk about it. First of all, this film is made by Maddock, and that was my reason to watch it, because if it’s Maddock, then it’s worth trusting.

Overview
Tehran is an action-thriller film based on the 2012 attack on an Israeli diplomat. The attack has been presented very well. The scene comes within the first 5–6 minutes—the car blast with a 360-degree camera angle, everything frozen—it was really well done. The investigation of this case is handled by ACP Rajeev Kumar, played by John Abraham. He is a slightly crooked officer and investigates the mission on a personal level. What happens at the end, you’ll see in Tehran movie yourself.
One plus point of this Tehran film is that it’s less than 2 hours long and has come directly on OTT. No songs, no unnecessary drama. It starts to the point and ends to the point. But still, does this Tehran movie really deserve your time? Especially when, even though it’s in Hindi, we have to rely on subtitles most of the time. Yes, you cannot watch this film without subtitles.
The English dialogues are fine, but many dialogues are in the Iranian language, Farsi. At one point, there’s a continuous 10–15 minute scene entirely in Farsi. I know the makers did this to maintain authenticity and realism of the incident, but since this movie is made for the audience, they could have dubbed it so people could enjoy it more.
Whether you call it the makers’ authentic decision or laziness, that’s up to you. Anyway, if this doesn’t bother you, then this Tehran movie is for you. Subtitles in Hindi are also available.
Tehran movie’s topic is politically sensitive, so it’s made for a mature audience. Tehran movie also has a lot of violence and bloodshed, so it is definitely not for children. Overall, I would say this Tehran movie is definitely a one-time watch.
The acting performances are good. Neeru Bajwa and Manushi Chhillar get very little screen time. Mostly John Abraham steals the show. His performance is as usual good. You won’t find any major flaws in him, but at the same time, you also won’t find any wow moments—not in acting, not in the story, not in the presentation, and not even in the action sequences.
If you sit to find flaws, you will find more. But I stay quiet after watching John, because he is the man who always breathes life into such offbeat topics.
