Everyone is upset because a movie got shelved even before it started—one that might have filled empty theatres to capacity. Hera Pheri 3 may be one of the most chaotic films ever. First, the producers had disputes, then the director was changed, and eventually, the actors the movie was being made for left the project. It’s okay if Hera Pheri 3 didn’t make it to theatres, but something even more unexpected is about to happen. Housefull 5 is about to pull off the biggest twist Indian cinema has ever seen.

Overview
Have you ever heard of a movie being released twice at the same time, in the same theatres, with two different story endings? How and why this will happen—I’ll explain that in a bit.
But first, who releases a 4-minute trailer? Why even call it a trailer? Might as well call it a short film. Housefull 5 might have the biggest star cast in Indian cinema history—19 lead actors, and with supporting roles, maybe around 30 in total, all working in one movie. That’s why the trailer had to be long. But no one expected it to be this way.
Housefull 5 comedy with suspense—a perfect combination. They cleverly reused iconic scenes from previous films and made people laugh all over again. The strategy worked really well. Jackie Shroff is saying “Choti bacchi ho kya?” Akshay Kumar is wrestling with monkeys like it’s WWE. The song Jolly Jolly links this movie to the previous Housefull films, and the famous line “Papa toh band bajaye” is back too.
Managing 19 actors could’ve been a mess, but each actor in the film has been used brilliantly. They’ve highlighted the things that made each of them famous in their careers. The confusion and character switching, a signature element of the Housefull series, keeps things interesting.
In this Housefull 5 time, the game is going to the next level because a serial killer enters the story. I’m slightly disappointed though, because the trailer didn’t reveal much about the killer. That could’ve been the main suspense element to sell tickets. People who read Agatha Christie might already guess how the story ends. But who knows, maybe there’s a desi twist. It doesn’t seem like a direct remake.
The trailer focuses heavily on comedy. Maybe they’re hiding the real story on purpose. But if they keep hiding too much, people might just lose interest. Still, credit where it’s due—every actor is seriously overacting, but not a single scene feels off. Everything fits. Akshay Kumar stands out, mainly because he has the most lines in the trailer. It took time, but the comedy king is finally back.
I do have one fear though. Seeing so many actors together reminds me of Rohit Shetty’s movie Cirkus, which also had a huge cast, many taken from his other films. Even though the story connected to Golmaal movie, the audience didn’t enjoy it.
They say Housefull 5 has a budget of over ₹350 crore, and judging by the trailer, they’ve clearly spent a lot. But the plan to recover it in 25 days is already in place. Now let me explain the two-ending strategy, which could change Indian cinema forever.
Apparently, the makers of Housefull 5 got two different versions of the film approved by the censor board. The twist is, the last 20 minutes of both versions are completely different. In one version, someone is the killer, and in the other version, it’s someone else.
Remember how the open-ending concept became popular after Andhadhun movie? Now, with Housefull 5, Indian audiences will get to experience alternate endings. This will work in a unique way online—when you go to book tickets, you’ll see two options: Housefull 5 and Housefull 5A (A stands for Alternate Version). You can watch whichever you want—or both, if you’re curious.
Why are they doing this? It’s a strategy for repeat viewing. This entire plan is made to get people to watch the same movie twice. And if it works the way the makers hope, expect to see this trend in many future Indian suspense films.
It’s hard to believe this is coming from the same makers who ruined the chance to make Sikandar a hit—even after releasing a promo, they missed their own Ghajini moment. Better late than never.
Now, it’s time to take public opinion. I have two questions for you—do you think this two-ending formula will actually work and double the film’s box office? And has Akshay Kumar truly made a comeback in both acting and box office terms? Tell me what you think after watching the trailer of Housefull 5 movie.
