Overview
First, I searched for the meaning of Thama on Google. In Kannada, the meaning suited it best — darkness, ignorance, and even demon. So, it seems the word has been taken from Kannada as a reference. Or maybe in this Thama movie, it could mean something else, I don’t know.
I have seen many vampire-related films before, but I am not going to compare them with this one, because those were Hollywood films with very big budgets. But I am a little surprised that Maddock is handling this topic so well. Showing a fictional world and fictional stories like this for Indian audiences, especially for those who have never really seen vampire fantasy stories before, will create a very different experience.
Talking about the teaser of Thama, overall, it is very good. It looks like it could be a reincarnation story, because in the beginning they mention 100 years. Some backgrounds look like they are from an older period. Even in the poster, especially Nawazuddin’s, there are soldiers dressed in period-style clothes. So, the storyline may start from a past life and come to the modern era.

There is one scene where a bear attacks Ayushmann. Maybe Rashmika’s entry happens in that same scene, because in both shots Ayushmann’s clothes are the same. Maybe Rashmika was his vampire lover in a past life. Another theory could be that Ayushmann gets badly injured in the bear attack, almost about to die, and Rashmika, who is already a vampire, takes him to her ancient temple. There, she revives him with her blood, and that’s how Ayushmann gets vampire powers.
There is also a shot where Rashmika is carrying Ayushmann while flying. Since it’s very dark, you have to pause carefully to notice it. And because this is a vampire story, I am sure that most of the film will take place in the dark. So better to watch it in 2D, because in 3D it looks darker. Vampires don’t like sunlight anyway.

Another shot makes it clear that Nawazuddin’s character, the main villain, has been locked up for years. In one line he says that he hasn’t seen romance in the last 75 years. So maybe he was imprisoned by someone. And since he is also a vampire, his teeth make that clear, he can live for ages.
At 1 minute 21 seconds, the accident shot is mirrored, because the bus has “Delhi Transport Corporation” written backwards. In the next shot, it appears correct. This confirms that the vampire story is set in Delhi. In fact, in Stree 2’s credit scene, Bhediya also said to Jana that they had to return to Delhi because someone there was sucking blood. So it’s almost confirmed that Bhediya will have a cameo in this movie too.

I am excited by the teaser of Thama, but also a little doubtful. The visuals look good, but the VFX feels a bit weak in some parts, like the bear attack scene or Rashmika flying.
Still, I trust Maddock completely. But when we set too many expectations, we often get disappointed, like we saw with War 2 and Coolie movie. So instead of expecting too much, let’s just wait for the trailer. Thama film is coming on Diwali.
So, what do you think about this Thama’s teaser?
