There was a time when OTT used to have shows like Sacred Games, Asur, Ghoul, and even Betaal. After that everything went downhill, everything was finished. But now in 2025, even if not with full hope, at least a spark has returned. On Netflix, from the creators of Saiyaara and War 2, YRF has come with a web series called Mandala Murders. When I saw its trailer, my mind was blown apart. And the big news is that even after watching the whole show, the mind is still the same.

Overview
Mandala Murders series has a total of eight episodes. It will finish in about five hours. And the best part is, everything will end in this season itself. You won’t have to wait for Mandala Murders season 2.
Let me tell you from the start, as strong as the concept of this Mandala Murders show is, the series could not fully match that level. But yes, you will surely get something different, something unique, a little horror, a little suspense.
The story is about a scary forest, where there is a small cave. Here people get blessings. I am not joking. People have even defeated death here. There is a strange machine, which has become like God for the villagers. You just need to come in front of it, ask for a wish, put a coin, and place your right-hand thumb on it. After that, you will get your wish but your thumb will never come back. You have to pay the price of the wish. To gain something, you must lose your thumb.

Now let’s go deeper into the story. A police officer from Delhi is searching for his mother who he lost in childhood. She did not die, people say that ghosts took her away. Then there is also a lady police in the story. She doesn’t need to use her hands and legs; her mind alone is enough to solve big cases.
But the problem is, with this mind comes a twist—madam sees dead people anytime, day or night. They never leave her alone.
And how can a Netflix show exist without Surveen Chawla’s face? This time she has become a politician. That means she has both the power of the village and the public in her grip.

Then there is one last character who is the most interesting. The Panchayat show’s Pradhan ji has shifted here. He works as a shadow worshipper. What is this? Simply, every person has a shadow. He talks to it. Like this morning itself he saw the shadow of someone’s death.
All these stories come together and continue across eight episodes of Mandala Murders. In the end, they all connect and create a strong mystery. And as the name says murders, you must have guessed that one after another, many murders will happen. Behind them, a mastermind will stay hidden until the climax.
The most powerful thing about this Mandala Murders series is the writing. Creating a whole new world, using black magic, politics, police, and even God, and keeping your mind twisted for five hours. What feels different is that instead of only horror and ghosts, they have tried to explain supernatural things with the help of science.

The best thing is, you can never predict how the story will end and what secret lies behind this boon concept. That is why every episode increases the curiosity. You can say the first six episodes are just buildup, but in the last two episodes, the whole world changes. Some things will feel interesting, some will go over your head.
The only less enjoyable part is the murder investigation. Who died, who killed, how they were killed—the search duty of officer Vaani Kapoor might feel boring. On the other hand, the small characters will set fire in your mind. The distractions they added hide the real fun. The treasure of boons is not that easy to get.
This Mandala Murders is a totally dark and serious show. No time pass, no comedy. Not too much adult content either. But yes, you must keep your mind open in every episode.
A fresh concept, amazing writing, and a new world created. Suspense with science, gripping you for all eight episodes. Negatives are that the lead character feels the weakest, and yes, in the climax some things don’t fit well. The more you think, the less impressed you will feel. You can definitely watch Mandala Murders. It will feel very different. But Mandala Murders show just misses the perfect masterpiece finish.
