To be honest, expectations were very high for Aamir Khan’s comeback trailer. In that sense, it felt a little underwhelming. The perfect comeback didn’t quite land. But Aamir Khan himself looks great in the trailer. He fits in effortlessly with the specially-abled children. Not a single scene feels awkward. And Genelia is back too. She wasn’t shown much with the children in the trailer, because her character is written as an observer or someone from the outside.
But as the trailer progresses, a slight fear begins to creep in. Everyone remembers Laal Singh Chaddha movie, where Aamir possibly overacted more than ever in his career. There’s a very thin line in this trailer between natural acting and overacting. But I think the emotions in the film Sitaare Zameen Par will cover everything, and Aamir will silence all his critics.
Still, making a remake in 2025, especially of a film that has already been remade multiple times, is a risky move. Is Aamir Khan’s team really so naïve that they’ve forgotten the failures of movie like Deva and Baby John? Everyone knows it’s a remake.
But this time, it’s Aamir Khan standing between hit and flop. After so many remakes have failed, no one really knows what the audience feels anymore. But one thing I can definitely say is that if someone sees Aamir Khan with those kids in the trailer and still says they don’t feel like watching the film, they’re not being honest.
